Indonesian Robot Technology Not Missed From Asean

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is not left behind in the development of robotic technology compared to other ASEAN countries, although when compared with Japan or Korea is still far behind.
"The development of robotics in Indonesia in recent years quite rapidly. But in order to better compete in the world needs more government support intense course with the support of no small cost," said the expert Mechatronics / Robotics from the University of Indonesia,

Dr. Abdul Muis M Eng in Jakarta, Sunday.
According to him, compared to decades ago around 2000, very rare for colleges that have a special lecture about robots, but since the advent of robotic race, now in almost every leading universities have a team of robots.
He said the current Japan is still leading in the world of robots, but the development of robots for future generations in the world, is expected to be led by South Korea.
"Korea has made an enormous robot center as a place of introduction and dissemination of robotic technology. Every school there is also invited and funded to conduct a study tour to the robot center. While China is equally rapid development of robot technology," he said.
While robotic technology in the United States is still leading, where research on robots to do with unlimited funds from the military.
Muis who earned a master's degree and doctorate at Keio University, Japan, an institution which has Ohnishi lab and is known as the pioneer of haptics technology development for robotic surgery, suggesting a significant difference when returning to Indonesia, where he was forced to do research robot with a cheap device.
"While at Keio university, the research I have done to control the mobile robot manipulator with two high speed camera, visual tracking, compliant control and realtime robot bilateral or haptics," he said.
But in Indonesia, because the robot-based embedded systems (microcontroller) which dirisetnya means of a perfunctory, then, only the performance and precision are also modest course, he said.
According to him, would cost at least tens of times to get the best performance ever undertaken in Japan.
For example, the sensor turns on ohnishi lab using a laser with a precision of 360 / 80000 degrees. While most high rotation sensor can be used here only 360 / 1500 degrees, he said.
Indeed in the market can be obtained precision 360 / 2500 degrees, but the device to read it can not be made with parts available in the Indonesian market. (D009/A038)
